Cutting back carbs to lose weight

Janice writes, "Im eating better and have lost a lot of weight. I do indoor exercises, ride my bike, dance, and walk. I also jump rope and swim. I don't do these all the time though, and I want to lose the last 14 lbs so I can be 100 lbs. I am making smoothies for myself and the ingredients are:
  • 1 bananna,
  • 1 cup raspberry sherbet,
  • 1 cup orange juice, and
  • A few ice cubes.
Are these ingredients bad or are they low-fat? I'm concerned about the sherbert. Is that low-fat and good for a dieter who wants to lose weight?

Good that you are working out and eating right. My concern is that you are putting a lot of stuff with sugar in it. Remember that sugars are carbs and eventually they convert to fat. So smoothies are great but just use fresh fruit and milkwater, and skip the sugar altogether, or if you must, use a calorie-free sweetner. High-quality 100% honey is another option.

You also got to eat more proteins. So when you go to a health food store you can buy some powdered soy protein that you can add to your smoothie. That way you get ample protein. It may not taste so delicious but you will start to like it after a while.
