Are metrosexuals handsome men?

No other statement generates as much controversy as this one. And not just from men. Even women express very strong opinions about who is a handsome man and if metrosexuals are handsome or attractive or cute or whatever. This is where we see American opinion on the subject of metrosexual men:

Women

  1. Absolutely love metrosexual men. Find them extremely handsome, take care of one's body. And oh yes, they love going to the mall with metrosexual men.
  2. Hate them. Can't stand them at parties. Often think of them as gay. Refuse to believe that they are "regular" guys. Don't like the part that they are encroaching on the territory traditionally reserved for them.

Men

  1. Well, first there are metrosexuals themselves who delight in being who they are and love all the buzz about them. Some get offended when told so in public, but love the attention from women.
  2. Men who would love to become metrosexuals but do not have the guts. They silently admire metrosexuals, even have some of the attributes, but never come out or only to their girlfriends.
  3. Hate metrosexuals and also the women who love them. Even send hate mail to websites that even talk about them (ours included).

So do you find metrosexual men attractive?

Abe doesn't think so. He says, "They are insane? Shaving armpits? Using lotion, face cleansers, masks, conditioner, eye cream, and lip balm? You can't honestly expect normal men to put up with all that crap. I know I can't be the only one who thinks that's going a little overboard. I mean, I'm all for good, basic hygiene (daily shower with shampoo and soap, deodorant, teeth brushed twice a day, shave when necessary), but damn, this is just crazy. Any man who submits himself to this needs to do some serious thinking about how much control he has over his own life."

Lisa totally disagrees. "Finally, I have found men that I can bond with. Men who understand women and don't treat them like freaks. Men who don't expect women to become like them. Oh by the way, I am marrying one of them next month."

Thomas was somewhat shy when we asked him. "I am what you might call a closet metrosexual. It's just that only my female friends know this. I wish more men would discover the joys of being handsome like metrosexual men."
