Men must understand menopause
Mohamed is a Muslim man in his early 40s and tells us that he has been married with his wife for about eight years now. He says, "My wife does not enjoy any physical intimacy at all though I can do it three to four times a day and love it. I need help!"
There are several reasons why desire goes down over the years and you must try to find out what is the reason. It may also involve consultation with a doctor to find out if she has a physical or mental condition. Depression, stress, and worry are some of the psychological reasons that can affect mood and desire. Similarly, biochemical changes in the body can have disastrous consequences on desire.
That brings us to the topic of menopause. Many men forget that while they are largely unaffected the special woman in their life is starting to see the gradual impact of menopause. Even many women do not realize that they are entering the menopause phase. Desire in this phase drops rapidly and women just do not know what to do or even if there is a problem.
So what can men do?

So what can men do?
- Talk to your wife/partner first. Find out if there is anything wrong.
- If you can not find out the reason by talking as a couple, you must schedule an appointment with your family physician, who can then recommend if you should have more tests or see a marriage counselor.
- Learn more about menopause. There is plenty of information on the Internet on how couples can deal with menopause. More research will help you better deal with it.
- Finally, be there for each other. It is understandable that you are frustrated but once you talk as a couple you will be able to figure out a way.
