Neuropeptides by Dr Perricone; use or not?

Several people who have started on the Perricone program based on our recommendation (Related article: Looking younger with Dr. Perricone's approach), have written to ask if they should invest the money to buy the neuropeptide products being aggressively pushed by Dr. Perricone.

Indeed, it is quite obvious that Dr. Perricone is pushing those products aggressively. That is where he makes money. The book "The Perricone Promise: : Look Younger, Live Longer in Three Easy Steps" is merely the brochure (one that you have to pay for) to sell the products that can cost hundreds of dollars a month.

MYNIPPON research shows that the diets and other habits that Dr. Perricone are good ones. While these have been known for centuries (for instance, the emphasis that he places on herbs and spices is directly lifted from Ayurveda texts), he has done a great job putting it all together in a form that any one can follow.

Should you buy the neuropeptide products?

Our recommendation is that you buy it with caution and be realistic about the results. If you can afford to follow the complete program, please go ahead and do it but remember that Dr. Perricone is not guaranteeing results. He is only stating that in independent tests, people saw results. However, that allows him a lot of leeway if you do not see any results at all.

We could not come up with any research (neither on Dr. Perricone's website nor in other medical journals) that establishes a clear relationship with applying peptides on the skin and getting better skin. As you might know, peptides and neuropeptides are chemicals that produced internally by the body for a variety of purposes but no research shows that if you put them on your face, you will become younger.

Dr. Perricone is not the first one to put peptides in personal care products. Hundreds of other products already contain a variety of peptides.

In conclusion, our recommendation is that if you follow the Perricone approach and make a gradual transition to a healthier lifestyle, you will see results even without neuropeptides.
